The first snow of the winter has fallen just a week before the 25th. How good would it be to have a white Christmas? That would make my year! The weather has been really good til now considering it’s winter. I really enjoyed my holiday with Pippa in the sun but since I’ve returned the cold hasn’t bothered me much. I’ve been out cycling and trials riding loads with the boys. When I say trials riding it’s not first gear negotiating rocks we get up to, we’re still loving our hillclimbing and jumping! 4th gear on the Beta is the fun gear, if a little dangerous.
Last week I travelled to England for a few days to spend some time with the team. We went karting under floodlights on Thursday evening and it proved to be even more fun than we anticipated. It was really cold and the moisture in the air found it’s way onto the circuit converting it into an ice rink. With zero grip everyone was spinning out but at the end of the one hour endurance race my teammate Jules and I took victory ahead of the team’s chief technician’s Brains and Phil. My teammate Jules was also the chief technician for Steve Plater this season. I didn’t win everything though, Brains pipped me by 0.01 to snatch the fastest lap of the night. As you can imagine he accepted the award with a great deal of modesty…
I’m heading over to Pippa’s for Christmas. I’ll pack the van up with my bicycle and trials bike on Saturday and head for the ferry. If you see a Red Bull helmet at a trial comp in the North East of England over the next few weeks don’t expect mad skills from a brooding Dougie Lampkin. Instead approach with caution, don’t let the helmet fool you!
Merry Christmas to all and may 2010 be a great one for each and every one of us.
